I’m just getting too old to be climbing up a chair to do this every day, twice a day. I have searching online and the only one I found is a tool for an RV vent.

If the system is balanced properly you should not have to be adjusting vents in duct work.
There are electric dampers that are used to zone a forced air system and these might be installed.
The “air vents” you refer to are called “diffusers” and usually open with a robinson head (square drive) screwdriver. Yours may be different.
The vents are supposed to be left open…
I have the same experience as you. Because i have found an open tool for xbox 360 on a website.
