  • Was called by UPS to be available for a required signature for the product. Took off work only to find out the shipping arrival date was changed to the next day. Just by chance someone was home to sign for it or due to my work schedule I would have had to wait a week for the product. A hurricane was coming the day after the orginal scheduled dilvery date. Don’t forget you will have to purchase oil amongst the other things (gas can, extention cords). Box was a bit banged up. Have not fired it up yet. Can’t wait. Also print out stated a free cover would come but it did not.

  • Took a while to receive. Max Tool must not have had them in stock. generator cranked right up and runs well. Have not put it to a real test as yet.

  • BUYERS BEWARE!!!

I just received this via UPS. The box was damaged and when I opened it, I can see that the arm bracket is bent. I decided not to even take the generator out of the box. As this product is listed as “non-returnable” by Amazon, let’s see how the return/exchange process works… I posted a packaging feedback photo to show the condition of the carton upon arrival.

Update: Amazon arranged for pickup and shipped a new one out promptly. Thank you Amazon. However, after assembly and filling with gas, I moved it outside to start it up. I was disappointed to find that the gas tank leaks badly at the gas gauge when the generator is tilted to move it on its wheels. Now that it is filled with gas, let’s see what the manufacturer will do for me. Stay tuned…

Maxtool (the manufacturer)shipped the “new” gauge quickly and it arrived today. The one that arrived was rusty and did not include the decal (empty full) but works better than the old one.

FYI, when I removed the old one, it appears that the gauge was damaged in assembly. The plastic part that the screws go thru was cracked by both screws and the glass window was loose. It would appear that to much torque was applied to the screws cracking the plastic part and allowing the glass to be loose and the gas to leak. I will update again when I use it shortly.

Update 2: I used it and it worked well albeit a little noisier than I’d hoped. It did the job though and as such would move the rating up to 2 stars or higher pending more usage/testing.

  • My first impressions upon unpacking were generally negative. The whole unit was roughly made, with components that did not fit well together. For a Chinese made unit at this price that is probably to be expected.

Unlike some other brands it does not come with the oil that it requires so after ordering from amazon to save me a drive, I still needed to go for a drive.

My unit has a large hole in the bottom of the gas tank, so is dangerously defective. I do not yet know how amazon handle returning a 100+ pound item that while it probably now has an empty tank, has had 3 gallons of gas poured through it so smells very strongly.

  • The electric start died after 1 use. I checked the battery and it was fully charged. If I tap the solenoid with the key turned, it will start — reminds me of an old car I once had. The pull start works nice and easy, so far — but I paid the extra $50 for the electric start, so I’m not real pleased.

Also, I can not get this generator grounded. Tried connecting to an existing grounding rod and to my water pipes, no luck. I guess I’ll try to my utility panel ground next — my house sockets are grounded — I double checked. If that doesn’t work then I don’t know what else to do.

Otherwise it seems to run well though have yet to put it to the test in an outage.

It is quieter than I expected.
